Two of five dogs — including two purebreds — from an Iowa woman who won a contest in which she was asked to adopt a dog who would be best used as a refrigerator for a restaurant or freezer for an ice cream store remain in a Florida shelter, according to a report.
Marcia Sigafoos was a contestant in a May contest sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States, in which she was asked to adopt a dog who would be best used as a refrigerator for a restaurant or freezer for an ice cream store.
The contest was in response to a Humane Society survey that found 66 percent of Americans said they would be interested in a refrigerator/freezer dog.
Nate Smith, director of the Florida shelter where the dogs are staying, told The Washington Post that he and other volunteers took a look at Sigafoos’ five dogs in May, and chose only two for the trip to South Carolina.
He told the newspaper that Sigafoos said that the two dogs that were returned home are fixed and she was only interested in purebreds, so the shelter chose two purebred mixed-breed dogs for her to adopt.
