Ripped from a dead body and kept alive by a powerful cloning technique, a man has become an experiment for a team of scientists studying the world's first successful human clone. He is stripped of everything - his identity, his free will, and eventually even his physical form. Left alone to survive with nothing but an artificial intelligence known as ARID for company, he must find some way to escape before he too becomes just another failed experiment. In this sequel to the 2000 thriller Hollow Man starring Kevin Bacon that had been doing well at box office upon release, we have Matt Davis who takes on the role of Sebastian Caine in what is expected to be another hit movie. Directed by Rob Cohen, the film was released in North America on November 18, 2004. It was released straight-to-DVD in the UK on July 2, 2005. The film was set for theatrical release in Greece but it has been cancelled due to negative reactions to its content. The story mainly follows what happens to Caine after his release from the cloning facility he is being held at post his evaluation by Dr. Karen Parker (Kirsten Dunst), but it also shows us the lives of the remaining clones as they try to piece their lives back together after being experimented upon by Dr. Parker's team of scientists. Sebastian Caine (Matt Davis) is a young geneticist who works at OmniCorp, a mammoth company which is developing cutting edge military technologies. Caine, however, believes that his research could aid mankind as well as help him to win the heart of Parker (Kirsten Dunst), the scientist he has fallen in love with. Unfortunately for him, Parker's father Howard (Kevin Bacon) – the head of OmniCorp – will not allow their relationship to develop so easily and so Caine begins to conduct research on a new genetic technique which will not only surpass Parker's own work but also enable him to give human beings various superpowers such as telekinesis and levitation. Caine successfully completes this new cloning process and the experimental process is a success, but a fatal error occurs in the cloning chamber which leads to his death. Caine, however, survives due to this error since human biology has been altered in such a way to make it possible for him survive outside of his body. In order to escape from the facility where he was being held after his release from the chamber, Caine must find a way out of his cell and avoid capture by OmniCorp security who are still trying to hunt him down for what happened during his evaluation.The film was distributed by Warner Bros. Home Video on March 13, 2006 through DVD only release on both VHS and DVD formats. Likewise, it was also released straight-to-DVD in France on March 12, 2008 but it went under the title of "Hollow Man 2" in that country. The film is available in HD on the iTunes Store and views in HD are available through Apple TV.The film has received mainly negative reviews from critics with Rotten Tomatoes actually giving the film a rating of only 6% "Rotten", based upon reviews from 22 well known critic review sites thus creating an average rating which is 2/10 stars.
